We will be entertained by a number of African performers, including drum performances by Daniel Petersen and Seby Ntege and an African art history exhibition -  it promises to be a great occasion.

Seby Ntege

Seby is a gifted musician from Central Africa (more specifically Uganda) who grew up around music and was trained in a range of traditional instruments including amadinda (xylophones), endingidi (tube fiddle), engoma (drums), enkwanzi (panpipes), endongo (thumb piano) as well as harp and lyre.

Seby currently lives in the UK and runs music and dance workshops in schools, universities and colleges all around the country, as well as community workshops and performances. He has also performed at a number of high profile events like the Mela Festival; and Westminster Abbey for Her Majesty the Queen.

Most recently, Seby led a week long music workshop summer school at SOAS University of London. He also attended WOMAD festival 2009, which included an interview / performance with Lucy Duran live on BBC Radio 3. Earlier this month Seby and Embaire Strikes Back played at a celebrity star-studded event in aid of the Born Free Foundation, celebrating its 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall.


Daniel Petersen

Daniel is the youngest endorsed drummer for the following brands:Yamaha Drums, Anatolian Cymbals, Vatar Drumsticks, High Performances Sports Science Institute – Newlands, South Africa

Daniel started playing a full drum kit at the tender age of 14 months. At the age of four years he received his endorsement from Yamaha and Anatolian Cymbals.

Daniel was recently honoured with the following engagements:
 Freedom Day Celebration - part of the official protocol for President Mbeki, Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday celebration, Live performances at the World Trade Centre – New Orleans, USA; International Convention Centre - New Orleans, USA; Children’s Hospital - New Orleans, USA November - 2008
